Green noise is an informal term β there is no single official definition β for noise weighted toward the middle of the spectrum, with the sharp highs and deep lows pulled back. People describe it as sounding like the ambient background of the outdoors: a distant open field, or the general hush of nature away from any one source.
Since βgreenβ is informal, tastes vary. If this middle-focused sound is not quite it, the well-defined colors β White, Pink, and Brown β are one tap away above.
The noise colors
- White β Flat, full hiss.
- Pink β Balanced, softer.
- Brown β Deep low rumble.
- Blue β Bright, airy hiss.
- Green β Mid-focused.
Every color here is generated from scratch with the Web Audio API the moment you press play β there are no sound files to load and nothing leaves your device. That is also why it keeps working offline once the page has loaded.
