Green noise is an informal term — there is no single official definition — for noise weighted toward the middle of the spectrum, with the sharp highs and deep lows pulled back. People describe it as sounding like the ambient background of the outdoors: a distant open field, or the general hush of nature away from any one source.
Since “green” is informal, tastes vary. If this middle-focused sound is not quite it, the well-defined colors — White, Pink, and Brown — are one tap away above.
The noise colors
- White — Flat, full hiss.
- Pink — Balanced, softer.
- Brown — Deep low rumble.
- Blue — Bright, airy hiss.
- Green — Mid-focused.
